Russia and India’s diplomats meet in Pyongyang amid shifting regional ties

The Russian Embassy in North Korea recently hosted a meeting between Russian Ambassador Alexandr Matsegora and India's new ambassador to North Korea, Aliawati Longkumer. The event, which took place on November 12 in Pyongyang, was documented on the Telegram account of the Russian Embassy.

The meeting comes as India's Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, is aiming to strengthen diplomatic relations with North Korea. This is a significant development in the region, as India has traditionally maintained a cautious approach towards North Korea due to its nuclear programme. However, recent years have seen a thaw in relations, with high-level visits and diplomatic exchanges increasing.

The meeting between Matsegora and Longkumer is a testament to the growing diplomatic ties between India and North Korea. As India continues to engage with North Korea, it will be interesting to see how these relations develop in the coming months.
