Russia Battles Surge in Fake Documents: 27M Views in 9 Months

A surge in fake documents, also known as forged docs, has been reported in Russia, with the most popular themes being politics, socio-budgetary measures, and healthcare. The issue has gained significant attention, with a recent forum dedicated to discussing detection methods and a high number of recorded cases.

In the first nine months of 2025, Russia saw 182 unique cases of forged docs and approximately 29,600 copies in circulation. The total number of views of this disinformation reached a staggering 27.1 million from January to September.

The most actively spread fake documents, or fake word documents, were found in the Republic of Dagestan, Ulyanovsk, and Kaliningrad regions. The most popular themes for these fake docs were politics, socio-budgetary measures, and healthcare.

In early October, a fake 'decree' restricting entry to the Magadan region was debunked. It's important to note that the regional Ministry of Health of the Magadan Oblast is the only institution authorized to issue official decrees in the region.

To tackle this issue, the third international forum 'Dialogue about fakes 3.0' will be held on October 29 in Moscow. The forum will discuss methods of detecting socially dangerous content.

Maternal capital may soon be allowed to be deposited into a child's account until they reach adulthood, according to recent discussions.

The spread of fake documents in Russia has raised serious concerns, with a significant number of views and active circulation in several regions. The upcoming forum in Moscow aims to address this issue and discuss detection methods. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing regarding the use of maternal capital for children's accounts.
