Russia extends utility payment deadlines to March 15 starting 2026

In Russia, changes to utility payment deadlines are set to take effect from March 1, 2026. This shift aims to provide residents with more time to settle their bills. The new deadline will be the 15th of each month, extending from the previous 10th.

Eviction rules in Russia vary for tenants and homeowners. Tenants can be evicted for serious housing violations, such as property damage, unsanitary conditions, or prolonged utility non-payment. However, courts rarely rule in favor of eviction due to the lack of alternative housing provided by municipal authorities.

Homeowners insurance does not cover eviction for homeowners facing significant utility bill debts. Eviction is only possible if they own another property or fail to meet mortgage obligations. Serious housing violations, noise, or neighbor conflicts do not constitute grounds for eviction.

Starting March 2026, utility payment deadlines in Russia will change to the 15th of each month. Eviction rules protect tenants and homeowners, with different provisions for each. Tenants can be evicted for serious housing violations, while homeowners face restrictions on property seizure and require alternative housing or mortgage default.
