Russia Marks Day of White Cranes: 80 Years Since WWII Victory

On October 22, Russia celebrates the Day of White Cranes, a day of remembrance, peace, and hope. This year, the event marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.

In a regional investigative department, employees organised a patriotic lesson for 10th grade cadets at MAOU 'Gymnasium No. 2'. The lesson was part of the XV All-Russian Action 'Days of White Cranes'. During the lesson, students crafted white cranes, each one a symbol of gratitude and memory. Some of these cranes were inscribed with warm words and wishes for the fighters of the special military operation, destined to be sent to the front along with humanitarian aid.

The action brought together tens of thousands across the country, including schoolchildren, students, SVO participants, and public figures. Veterans of combat actions also participated, sharing personal memories and tales of courage, loyalty, and camaraderie. The feat of these heroes remains forever inscribed in the history of the country and in the hearts of its people. After the lesson, the remaining white cranes and red carnations were laid at the Memorial to the Fallen in the Great Patriotic War, serving as symbols of gratitude and sorrow.

On the Day of White Cranes, millions of white paper cranes are released nationwide, symbolizing the souls of fallen soldiers. This year's event honoured the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, fostering a spirit of remembrance, peace, and hope.
