Russian cities unite to strengthen municipal leadership at Yekaterinburg forum
The IX All-Russian Forum 'Cities of Russia: Leadership Technologies' opened in Yekaterinburg on November 27. Running until November 28, the event brings together municipal leaders to discuss key issues in local governance. One of the main sessions focuses on the role of city councils in implementing municipal reforms under a centralised public authority system.
During the forum, Anna Gurariy, speaker of the Yekaterinburg City Duma, signed cooperation agreements with the heads of five city councils. The deals involve Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, and Sysert Urban District. These partnerships build on an earlier agreement between Yekaterinburg and Volgograd first established in 2001 and updated over time.
The signed agreements aim to deepen collaboration between the cities involved. Topics like legislative changes, financial planning, and public engagement will guide future joint efforts. The forum continues to serve as a platform for municipal leaders to share strategies and strengthen intercity cooperation.
