Russian crackdown nets tons of poached crab and salmon in massive raid
Authorities in Primorsky Krai have cracked down on illegal fishing with a large-scale operation named Putina-2025. The sweep uncovered widespread poaching, leading to multiple arrests and the seizure of tons of illicit seafood. Three local residents now face serious charges for organizing illegal crab fishing.
The operation targeted organized poaching groups across the region. Over the course of the investigation, officials recorded 189 separate cases of illegal fishing. The haul included roughly five tons of illicitly caught fish, 920 kg of salmon roe, 375 kg of crab, and 230 kg of assorted seafood.
The Putina-2025 operation has disrupted a major illegal fishing network in Primorsky Krai. With significant seizures and multiple prosecutions underway, authorities aim to curb the trafficking of poached seafood. The cases will now proceed through the legal system under strict criminal and administrative penalties.
