Russian Ex-Official’s Corruption Deal Collapses, House Arrest Imposed After ‘Bad Faith’

Artur Arutyunyan, a former advisor to ex-Krasnoyarsk mayor Vladislav Loginov, has seen his pretrial cooperation agreement annulled. Prosecutors accuse him of acting in 'bad faith' during the corruption probe, leading to his house arrest.

Arutyunyan was initially detained in late February on charges of organizing and overseeing a group's abuse of official powers. In September 2023, an auction for a property complex on Tekhnologicheskaya Street was won by Asfaltobetonny Zavod JSC. However, Arutyunyan allegedly ordered the head of the city’s municipal property department to block the transfer of the assets and terminate the contracts.

Prosecutors struck a pretrial deal with Arutyunyan, but he failed to honor it by providing vague and unhelpful information. This led to the annulment of the agreement, leaving him facing harsher penalties.

With the pretrial cooperation agreement now void, Arutyunyan's legal situation has worsened. He has been placed under house arrest, pending further investigation and potential trial.
