Russian firms face prosecution over 29 million rubles in unpaid wages
A prosecutorial inspection in Primorsky Krai has uncovered a significant wage arrears crisis affecting local workers. Two companies in the region now face legal action after failing to pay employees for months. The total unpaid wages exceed 29 million rubles, leaving hundreds without income.
The investigation began after social media reports highlighted wage delays at a concrete and reinforced concrete products plant in Artyom. Authorities then expanded their checks to other businesses in the region.
In Krasnoarmeysky District, a logging company was found to owe 71 employees over 22 million rubles in unpaid wages. The debt had been accumulating since November 2025, prompting prosecutors to open a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 145.1 of the Russian Criminal Code for non-payment of wages exceeding two months. Separately, another company failed to pay 214 employees for the first half of March 2026, totalling 7 million rubles in arrears. The supervisory agency has placed the issue of restoring workers' rights under constant oversight. The prosecutor’s office now intends to file lawsuits to recover the unpaid wages. They will also seek compensation for the delayed payments on behalf of the affected employees.
Legal proceedings are underway to recover the debts and ensure workers receive their owed salaries. The prosecutor’s office will continue monitoring the situation to prevent further violations. Both companies involved now face potential penalties under Russian labour law.
