Russian man faces trial after drunken death threats against partner
A 33-year-old man from Stekolny is facing trial after threatening to kill his live-in partner in late January. Police investigators from the Khasynskoye division have completed their probe, and prosecutors have approved the indictment for a court hearing.
The incident took place while the suspect was intoxicated. According to reports, he assaulted the woman and made explicit death threats. The victim took the threat seriously and attempted to flee.
The man later admitted his guilt during questioning. He expressed remorse and formally apologised to the woman as part of the investigation. The case has now been forwarded to court for trial.
Under Russian law, the charge carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Recent trends show stricter enforcement of violent threat cases, with higher conviction rates and faster digital investigations. Courts have handed down sentences ranging from two to four years in similar cases since 2021.
The trial will determine the final penalty for the defendant. If convicted, he could face imprisonment in line with Russia's tightened sentencing for violent threats. The case follows a pattern of increased prosecutions under anti-extremism and public safety laws.
