Russian man fined for publicly insulting a railway police officer on train

A man from the Troitsko-Pechorsky District, identified as A.V. Kuznetsov, has been fined for publicly insulting a railway police officer. The incident took place on Train No. 277 from Labytnangi to Nizhny Novgorod on June 18, 2025.

Kuznetsov refused to leave the train car or accompany the officer to the police station. Instead, he chose to insult the officer in front of other passengers. The court found him guilty of violating Article 319 of the Russian Criminal Code, which deals with public insults of government officials while performing their duties.

Kuznetsov was sentenced to pay a fine of 20,000 rubles. He was not detained at any point before the sentencing.
