Russian man jailed for nearly three years after repeat drunk driving offense

A 34-year-old man from Yagodnoye has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for repeat drunk driving. The incident occurred in July 2025 when he was caught operating a vehicle while intoxicated in a residential area.

The convicted driver was behind the wheel of a Toyota Altezza in Yagodnoye. This was not his first offence—he had a prior drunk driving conviction and had already lost his licence. Despite this, he was found driving under the influence again.

The court handed down a strict penalty. He received two years and ten months in a minimum-security penal colony. In addition, the judge imposed a six-year ban on any vehicle-related activities, including driving. Financial consequences were also part of the ruling. The court ordered the seizure of 340,000 rubles—the estimated market value of his car.

The sentence reflects the severity of repeat drunk driving offences in the region. The man will serve time in a penal colony and remains barred from operating vehicles for six years. His car's value was also confiscated as part of the legal penalties.
