Russian music producer Philipp Rossa jailed over fraud and copyright charges
Philipp Rossa, a prominent figure in Russia's music industry, has been remanded in custody until May 5. The former executive producer of Oleg Gazmanov faces serious charges, including large-scale fraud and illegal use of copyrighted material.
Rossa was detained on March 5 after a court ruling in Moscow. He has denied the allegations but remains in custody pending further investigation.
Rossa built a career in music production and copyright management. As part of United Media Agency (UMA), he handled rights for major artists such as Little Big, Motorist, and Nina Karlsson. His work also involved collaborations with labels like Black Star and Warner Music Russia.
His long-standing professional ties included a close partnership with Oleg and Rodion Gazmanov. Oleg Gazmanov has since been identified as the victim in the ongoing case.
The charges against Rossa carry a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years. His defence team argued for a softer pretrial measure, citing his clean criminal record and responsibility for a young daughter. Despite these pleas, the Basmanny District Court upheld the custody order until early May.
The case centres on allegations of fraud and copyright violations linked to Rossa's industry role. A final decision on his guilt or innocence will follow further legal proceedings. For now, he remains detained as investigations continue.
