Russian streamer fined for criticizing army during War Thunder livestream

A Russian court has fined a popular streamer for comments made during an online game. Maxim Chernyshov, known as CrewGTW, received a 30,000-ruble penalty for discrediting the Russian army in a War Thunder livestream. The ruling has now taken full legal effect.

The case centred on remarks Chernyshov made while broadcasting the military game. A district court in Nizhny Novgorod found his statements in violation of laws protecting the army's reputation. No details of the specific comments have been released.

The streamer chose not to challenge the decision. As a result, the fine was confirmed without further legal review. As of March 2026, there are no reports of wider reactions from the Russian gaming community. No public records also indicate whether Chernyshov faced additional consequences beyond the financial penalty.

The 30,000-ruble fine stands as the final outcome of the case. Chernyshov's livestream incident remains one of several enforcement actions under Russia's military reputation laws. No further legal steps or public responses have been documented.
