Russian volunteers honored for daring frontline missions and leadership
Two soldiers from southern Russia have been recognised for their bravery and leadership during combat operations. Dmitry Borodin and Pavel Artemyev, both volunteers in the conflict, received military honours for their roles in high-risk missions. Their contributions ranged from frontline reconnaissance to humanitarian support behind enemy lines.
Dmitry Borodin, originally from Novorossiysk, enlisted as a volunteer in 2022. He served as a platoon commander in fire support, carrying out missions on the frontline in the Luhansk and Kherson sectors. His most notable achievement came when he successfully extracted a reconnaissance group from behind enemy lines without any casualties. For his actions, he was awarded the Suvorov Medal. Beyond combat, Borodin remains engaged in volunteer work, delivering humanitarian aid and showing interest in regional domestic policy.
Pavel Artemyev, from Krasnodar, began his involvement in 2022 by travelling to the combat zone on humanitarian missions. After a year, he joined the front lines as a volunteer. He later took command of a reconnaissance-strike company, where he used drones to locate enemy equipment and direct its destruction. His service earned him the Medal for Courage, Second Class.
Both soldiers entered the conflict as volunteers and quickly took on critical roles. Borodin’s leadership in extraction missions and Artemyev’s expertise in drone-assisted strikes highlight their contributions. Their awards reflect the military’s recognition of their skill and dedication in high-stakes operations.
