Russian Writers' Union Meets in Nizhny Novgorod to Plan Regional Growth

The First Nizhny Novgorod Book Fair, a central event of the Russian Book Week, hosted a strategic meeting of the Union of Russian Writers. The gathering, led by Andrei Timofeev, discussed the development of regional branches and the implementation of presidential instructions. Vladimir Medinsky and Gleb Nikitin addressed the participants, expressing gratitude and support.

The meeting began with a report by Nikolai Ivanov, Acting Secretary of the Union of Russian Writers. It was followed by a discussion on the further strategy for the Union's development, particularly in the Volga Federal District. The session also saw the presentation of new membership cards to board members and representatives from various regions.

The merger of two branches headed by Zakhar Prilepin was praised by Vladimir Medinsky, who thanked those who supported the move. The literary community of Nizhny Novgorod was also commended for their support of the House of Writers. Gleb Nikitin, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, invited representatives of the Union of Russian Writers to hold joint events in the region.

The strategic session resulted in agreed-upon criteria for the effectiveness of regional branches. The mobile Secretariat of the regional branches held its first post-reorganization meeting in the Coat of Arms Hall of the Main Fair House, marking a significant step in the Union's organizational development.
