Russia's Autumn Conscription Begins, Nizhny Novgorod Drafts 2,100
The autumn conscription campaign in the Russian Armed Forces has begun, with the Nizhny Novgorod region planning to draft over 2,100 individuals this year. Among them are the first 50 conscripts who have started their military service, mostly under the Moscow Military District, as of October 15.
The region has initiated the formation of the BARS-NN mobilization reserve unit, designed to protect and defend regional enterprises against aerial attacks. This unit, BARS-NN, is for individuals ready to defend their region despite living peaceful lives, as stated by Sergei Agafonov, the military commissar of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Reservists will retain their primary jobs while serving in BARS-NN, combining them with military training and drills. They will serve exclusively within the Nizhny Novgorod region and will not be deployed to the special military operation zone. New recruits will undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine under medical supervision and participate in training exercises to prepare for service. The 2025 autumn conscription campaign is proceeding as planned and has entered its active phase, with no deployment to the special military operation zone for conscripts.
The Nizhny Novgorod region is actively preparing its mobilization reserve unit, BARS-NN, to safeguard the region from potential aerial threats. The conscription campaign is proceeding as scheduled, with the first conscripts already beginning their service.
