Moscow recently hosted the first All-Russian forum-exhibition of municipal practices, Big Solutions for Small Homelands, on December 5–6. The event brought together over 750 municipal representatives from every region of Russia. Organised by the All-Russian Association for the Development of Local Self-Government (VARMUS), it highlighted innovation in local governance across the country.
The two-day gathering took place at the Senezh Management Mastery platform, part of the Russia – Country of Opportunities presidential initiative. Attendees explored 16 themed exhibitions and nearly 500 case studies showcasing best practices in municipal management. Key topics included economic development, housing, agriculture, culture, and sports, with a focus on implementing national projects and supporting grassroots initiatives.
The Big Solutions for Small Homelands forum concluded with a clear emphasis on collaboration and innovation in local governance. The report’s findings will now guide further support for municipalities across Russia. Organisers and participants alike highlighted the event’s role in sharing practical solutions for regional development.
