Russia’s KES-Basket League Kicks Off With 48 Teams in Epic Showdown

A major school basketball festival took place in Yoshkar-Ola, marking the start of the KES-Basket interregional league championship. The event brought together 48 teams from 24 Russian regions, with high-profile guests and organisers in attendance. Among them were former NBA stars, government officials, and sports legends.

KES-Basket was founded in 2007 by KES Holding, a prominent Russian energy and gas company. In its first season, the league involved 319 schools across Perm Krai. By its second year, it expanded to include 12 more regions, growing into a multi-regional competition.

The festival celebrated the growth of school basketball in Russia while offering young athletes a chance to compete at a higher level. With support from major organisations and sports figures, the KES-Basket league continues to expand its reach across the country.
