Russia’s Magadan Region Forms New Public Council to Advise Police on Legal Reforms

A new Public Council has been formed to advise the police in Russia’s Magadan Region, known as Kolyma. The group will help shape policy, promote legal awareness, and strengthen the rule of law over the next three years. Its term runs from 2025 to 2028.

Major General Dmitry Knyazev, head of the Interior Ministry’s regional directorate, signed the order confirming the council’s membership. The body will include representatives from public and professional organizations, as well as cultural figures.

The Public Council will operate until 2028, focusing on law enforcement policies and officer education. Its work aims to support transparency and legal standards within Kolyma’s police force. The exact composition and leadership details remain undisclosed for now.
