Russia’s Pallada Ship Docks in China to Strengthen Academic Ties

The Russian sail training ship Pallada has docked in Dalian, China, marking its first visit to the country in years. The trip aims to strengthen academic connections between Russia and China. Under the command of Captain Nikolai Zorchenko, the vessel carries 114 cadets for practical sea training.

The Pallada will stay in Dalian’s port for three days, from November 22 to 24. During their visit, the cadets will explore local landmarks, including a monument honouring Soviet soldiers. They will also take part in sports competitions organised as part of the programme.

The Pallada’s arrival in Dalian follows a long break in such visits. The trip provides cadets with hands-on experience while reinforcing ties between Russian and Chinese institutions. The ship’s open-door policy during its stay will also allow local residents to engage with the crew and learn about the vessel’s mission.
