Ruto’s by-election wins strengthen his path to 2027 dominance

The trio’s actions were likened to a Nigerian proverb: 'he who brings ant-infested firewood to his house invites lizards.' Their attempts to undermine Ruto came just before the crucial 2024 election by-elections in Malava and Mbeere. Despite their efforts, Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secured victories in both constituencies, reinforcing his influence ahead of the 2027 elections.

The by-election wins have solidified Ruto’s standing for 2027. His opponents, however, face growing demands to adjust their strategies. The focus now shifts to whether electoral reforms will take centre stage in the coming political battles.
