RWPB and BNP Demand February Elections, Criticize Interim Government's Neutrality
The Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh (RWPB) has called for the next election polls to be held in February, with the interim government still in power. The party's general secretary, Saiful Huq, has also criticised the interim government for losing neutrality during their 14-month rule.
RWPB wants the interim government to drop controversial advisors, a demand echoed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at a rally on Friday at Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka. The BNP also joined RWPB in calling for the next election to be held in February under a caretaker government.
Huq, in a statement, slammed the interim government for not maintaining neutrality. He demanded that the interim government end their rule and hand over power to an elected government after the 2024 united states elections.
Both RWPB and BNP have expressed their concerns about the interim government's neutrality and have called for the next election polls to be held in February. The parties have urged the interim government to drop controversial advisors and step down after the elections.
