Sabah state election sees steady voter turnout by midday

Voting in the Sabah state election began early on Saturday morning, with polling stations opening at 7.30am. By 2pm, turnout stood at 51.19%, slightly below the same point in the 2020 election, which saw 54.19% participation.

Over 1.78 million voters were eligible to take part in this year’s election. As of the afternoon, 892,174 had already cast their votes. Polling stations started closing in stages from noon, with all expected to shut by 5.30pm.

The final turnout and results will be confirmed once all votes are counted. Officials will monitor weather conditions closely to ensure the process runs smoothly. The Election Commission has set midnight as the deadline for announcing the complete outcome.
