Sabah’s Karamunting seat sees fierce five-way battle in state election
The 17th Sabah State Election, scheduled for November 29, will feature early voting on November 25. Datuk George Hiew Vui Zin, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Karamunting, is seeking re-election after serving two terms in the constituency. He faces competition from four opponents: Wong Tshun Khee (Warisan), Datuk Chin Kim Hiung (BN-MCA), Datuk Chew Kok Who (KDM), and Soo Ming Soon (PIS). Hiew initially contested under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) ticket but has since switched to PH, a move that was well-received by voters and party members. He remains confident that the people of Karamunting will re-elect him, citing his track record of service and personal connection with residents. The Karamunting seat will see a five-way contest, with Hiew banking on his experience and community ties to secure another term. Polling day is set for November 29, while early voting will occur four days prior. The voting results will determine whether Hiew’s plans for economic growth and infrastructure improvements move forward.
