Sabah’s political shift as two key leaders join PKR under Pakatan Harapan
Sabah's political landscape has seen a shift with two prominent figures, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar and Datuk George Hiew, announcing their decision to contest under Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). This move comes after they left Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and will see them representing PKR under the Pakatan Harapan banner.
The duo's decision was made independently and not influenced by GRS. Despite leaving Gagasan Rakyat, they will continue to receive support from the coalition for their candidatures within the government. This development follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sabah state government and Maybank for financing Blue Economy projects on November 8, 2023, in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Datuk Jamawi Jaafar and Datuk George Hiew's switch to PKR under the Pakatan Harapan banner adds a new dynamic to Sabah's political scene. Their candidatures will continue to be supported by Gagasan Rakyat, ensuring stability within the coalition government.
