Sabah’s political turmoil grows as Benedick’s future hangs in balance
Datuk Ewon Benedick continues to serve as Minister for Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, attending Cabinet meetings as usual. Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirms his position in the federal Cabinet and Sabah Pakatan Harapan. Despite recent speculation, no successor has been announced as of November 8, 2025.
The political landscape in Sabah remains uncertain as rumours intensify about Benedick's possible departure from the government. Benedick's party, Upko, has decided to contest the upcoming state election on November 29 under its own logo, rather than the PH banner. This move comes amidst Benedick's pledge to step down if the Attorney General's Chambers challenges the election results on Sabah's revenue rights.
As of now, Benedick continues to hold his ministerial position, with no official announcement regarding his departure. The upcoming state election and the potential challenge to the election results so far on Sabah's revenue rights may bring further clarity to the situation.
