BSW General Secretary Leye to become Party Vice President - Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance prepares for bold rebranding and leadership shake-up

The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), a political party known for its news-making moves, is poised for significant transformations. At its upcoming conference in Magdeburg on December 6-7, the party plans to propose a new name, 'Alliance for Social Justice and Economic Reason', and unveil a revised personnel structure. The conference will also witness the election of a new federal executive board and a potential name change, contingent upon a two-thirds majority approval.

Current secretary-general, Christian Leye, has announced his intention to run for deputy chair at the conference. He believes the party needs to break from its past and sharpen its political profile, planning to focus more on policy work, a shift he finds more relevant to his new role. The conference will be a pivotal news event, as the new leadership is expected to drive these changes. However, the names of other candidates for the federal board have not been disclosed yet.

The BSW's conference in December promises to be a breaking news moment for the party. With a new name, leadership, and focus on policy, the party aims to solidify its political identity and move forward.
