This picture is clicked outside the city. Here, we see many people walking on the road. The man in the middle of the picture wearing white t-shirt is holding a banner which is in red and black color. We see some text written on that banner. Beside them, we see people walking in the sideways and beside them, there are buildings. There are many buildings and trees in the background. We even see street lights and a flag in red color. At the top of the picture, we see the sky.

San Francisco Honors Legendary Music Photographer Jim Marshall with Street Renaming

A stretch of road in San Francisco will soon bear the name of legendary photographer Jim Marshall. The 3600 block of 16th Avenue will officially become Jim Marshall Way, honouring a man who captured some of music’s most defining moments. Marshall lived on the same street for 28 years before his death 15 years ago.

Marshall built his reputation by documenting San Francisco’s vibrant music scene, social unrest, and protests. His lens immortalised icons like Janis Joplin, John Coltrane, and Johnny Cash, along with the Beatles and Bob Dylan. Beyond music, he was the first photographer to ever receive a Grammy, though his life was marked by personal struggles, including addiction.

The new street name ensures Marshall’s legacy remains tied to the neighbourhood he called home for decades. His photographs, which shaped the visual history of music and activism, will now be remembered each time the sign is passed.
