Sarah Wagenknecht’s alliance picks Desireé Kany as top election candidate
A new political alliance led by Sarah Wagenknecht has chosen its top candidate for the upcoming federal election. The nomination event took place at the Stormwind inn in Ensdorf, drawing well-known figures from the LEFT party. Desireé Kany was selected with overwhelming support, securing 91% of the vote.
The gathering saw familiar faces from the LEFT, including Astrid Schramm and Jochen Flackus, alongside veteran politician Oskar Lafontaine. He delivered a speech focusing on peace and economic policy, setting the tone for the campaign.
With 91% backing, Kany enters the race as a decisive candidate. Her campaign will focus on regional job security, economic stability, and social welfare. The alliance now prepares for a competitive federal election in the Saarland.
