Saxon Citizens' Award 2025 Honors Five Exceptional Initiatives
Five outstanding initiatives have been recognized with the Saxon Citizens' Award 2025. The winners were celebrated in Dresden's Frauenkirche, with each receiving €5,000. The award highlights their contributions to the common good, democracy, and social cohesion.
Among the winners was the Bobenneukirchen Angling Group, which works tirelessly to preserve waterways, protect landscapes, and conserve biodiversity. The Christian Aid for Lithuania association was also honored for its efforts in supporting the Lithuanian community.
The Saxon Anonymous Treatment Voucher Association, which provides vital counseling and support to individuals without health insurance, was another recipient. This initiative ensures that everyone has access to necessary medical treatment. The association's leader, though unnamed, has played a crucial role in its success.
A total of 85 projects, initiatives, and individuals were nominated for the award, demonstrating the wealth of volunteer efforts across the state. Saxony's Minister-President Michael Kretschmer praised these efforts, highlighting their impact on solidarity and social unity.
