Saxony-Anhalt breaks ground on €88M consumer protection headquarters in Halle
Up to now, Saxony-Anhalt's State Office for Consumer Protection has operated out of various properties in Halle (Saale), with its main headquarters housed in an old villa on Freiimfelder Straße. But the agency—along with its 230 employees—is now getting a brand-new building. The project, costing €88 million, is set to be completed by 2028.
On Friday afternoon, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility at the Fliederweg Barracks site. Finance Minister Michael Richter said the modern structure would provide "excellent conditions for staff in both administration and the laboratories." Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne added that the building would also help prepare the state for future pandemics.
Spanning 7,500 square meters of usable space, the new complex will include 3,000 square meters dedicated to laboratories.
