Saxony-Anhalt Celebrates 25 Years of 'FrauenOrte' – Honoring Women's History

Saxony-Anhalt is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of 'FrauenOrte – Women’s History in Saxony-Anhalt' on October 27, 2025. The event, initiated by Dr. Elke Stolze, aims to highlight women's history as an integral part of regional heritage.

The anniversary celebration will take place at the Stadthaus on Marktplatz 2. It will showcase 'FrauenOrte' from across Saxony-Anhalt, accompanied by music and multimedia presentations. Dr. Elke Stolze, the project initiator and longtime coordinator, will deliver a speech titled 'In the Thick of It—Yet Still on the Outside: An Exhibition Shifts Perspectives.'

The event will also feature a keynote address by Petra Grimm-Benne, Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister for Equality. Katharina Brederlow, the city’s executive councilor for education and social affairs, will welcome guests on behalf of Lord Mayor Dr. Alexander Vogt. This initiative was the first of its kind in Germany, launched as part of EXPO 2000 to make women’s history more visible in regional and national heritage.

The 25th anniversary of 'FrauenOrte – Women’s History in Saxony-Anhalt' promises to be a significant event, celebrating the project's impact on regional history and its ongoing commitment to highlighting women's contributions.
