In the picture we can see three boys standing near the desk on it, we can see two computer systems towards them and one boy is talking into the microphone and they are in ID cards with red tags to it and behind them we can see a wall with an advertisement board and written on it as Russia imagine 2013.

Greens See Justice Held Back by IT Issues - Saxony-Anhalt’s digital justice overhaul stalls before 2026 deadline

Saxony-Anhalt’s justice system is struggling to meet the national deadline for digital case files. The rollout of the e-file system, meant to cut costs and improve efficiency, has faced repeated delays. Officials now admit the January 2026 target will likely be missed.

The state’s Ministry of Justice has acknowledged ongoing issues with IT and communication systems in courthouses and prosecutor’s offices. Even short outages disrupt daily work, as Sebastian Striegel, the Green Party’s legal policy spokesperson, has highlighted. These failures add to the frustration among judges and prosecutors already dealing with slow justice progress.

With the 2026 deadline now out of reach, Saxony-Anhalt must accelerate its digital transition. Courts and prosecutors remain stuck with inefficient processes, while repeated IT failures slow down justice operations. The state’s next moves will determine whether the justice system can finally achieve stable, modern functionality.
