DGB criticizes insufficient jobs for disabled in Saxony - Saxony fails to meet disability hiring quotas despite legal mandates
Saxony’s employment rate for individuals with severe disabilities remains below legal requirements. Only 4% of eligible jobs go to this group, despite a mandatory 5% quota. Private employers perform even worse, with a rate of just 3.4%.
The problem persists despite long-standing rules. One in four Saxon companies with over 20 staff employed no one with a severe disability in 2023. Over the past decade, compliance among private firms has actually fallen slightly.
The gap between legal requirements and actual hiring practices remains wide. With compliance declining and reforms yet to show results, the DGB continues to push for stronger commitments from employers. The current system still leaves many people with severe disabilities without job opportunities.
