Dresden Fire Department Takes Over Part of Firefighter Training - Saxony's Firefighter Training Gets Boost as Dresden Fire Brigade Steps In
Saxony's interior minister Armin Schuster has signed an agreement for the professional fire brigade in Dresden to partially take over firefighter training. This move aims to relieve the Landesfeuerwehr- und Katastrophenschutzschule in Elsterheide and increase training spots for firefighters from different departments.
Previously, all firefighter training in Sachsen was conducted exclusively at the Landesfeuerwehr- und Katastrophenschutzschule. Starting in 2023, the Dresden professional fire department will share this responsibility. The new training concept allows up to 24 recruits to participate in a six-month course offered by the Dresden fire department.
This change is expected to benefit firefighters and the training facilities. It will help to distribute the workload and provide more training opportunities for firefighters from various departments.
The partial takeover of firefighter training by the Dresden professional fire department is set to begin in 2023. This shift aims to reduce pressure on the Landesfeuerwehr- und Katastrophenschutzschule and offer more training spots, ultimately enhancing firefighter training in Sachsen.
