ADAC warns of truck wrong parkers on Saxony's highways - Saxony’s highways overrun by trucks as rest stops vanish into thin air
Trucks are increasingly parking illegally on Saxony’s highways due to a severe shortage of rest stops near me. A recent survey found nearly half of rest areas had lorries blocking high-risk zones like ramps and hard shoulders. The ADAC has now raised concerns over the growing safety threat in the area.
The ADAC’s latest report highlights dangerous conditions in Saxony, particularly in the Leipzig-Dresden-Chemnitz triangle. At Dresdner Tor Süd on the A4, 54 trucks were parked improperly, while Muldental Süd on the A14 saw 61 lorries in unauthorised spots. These areas are among the most overcrowded in the region.
Without more rest stops, illegal stops will likely continue. The ADAC’s proposals aim to reduce risks but require swift action from authorities. Until then, overcrowded rest stops remain a hazard for both truckers and other road users.
