Schleswig-Holstein Cracks Down on Protest-Related School Absences

Students must now weigh activism against grades as the state bans protest absences. Failing marks loom for those who skip exams for demonstrations.

In the picture we can see some school children are standing on the path with school uniforms and they are holding some papers in their hands and one girl is talking something near the microphone which is to the stand and behind them we can see a fencing wall and to the top of it we can see a shed with some balloons top it.

The state’s education authority announced that participation in protests against conscription reforms does not justify missing classes. Students who fail to attend without a valid reason will have their absences formally recorded. Those who skip graded tests or exams will automatically receive a failing mark.

The ministry’s stance means students must now choose between attending protests and avoiding academic penalties. Absences linked to demonstrations will be treated the same as any other unauthorised truancy. The policy applies immediately, with no exceptions for political activism.
