Schöningen’s B 244 roadworks delay reopenings until after Christmas break
Roadworks on the B 244 in Schöningen’s town centre continue to cause disruptions. Several key routes remain closed, though some sections are set to reopen before the Christmas break. Authorities have asked for patience as construction progresses in stages.
The latest phase of work focuses on Helmstedter Straße, which stays closed up to Müller-Mühlenbein-Straße. Repairs to gutters and road surfaces north of Schüttestraße, along with upgrades on Elmstraße, have been delayed until next year. These postponements mean drivers will still face detours for now.
By December 19, Neuetor and Wilhelmstraße will reopen, improving access before the Christmas break. Helmstedter Straße and Elmstraße, however, will stay closed or restricted until further work resumes in 2025. Authorities remind residents and commuters to follow signposted detours and plan extra travel time.
