440 Jobs at Risk - Municipality Fights for BSH Site in Nauen - Schönwalde-Glien Council Fights to Save 1,840 Jobs at BSH Plant in Nauen

The municipal council of Schönwalde-Glien has expressed grave concern over the impending closure of the BSH plant in Nauen, which threatens around 440 jobs directly and 1,400 jobs indirectly. The council has appealed to the Brandenburg state government and called on various parties to seek viable alternatives to prevent this closure.

The council finds it incomprehensible that BSH would abandon the site, given that it received public funding of approximately €5 million in 2005. Local government officials and employee representatives have been actively advocating for preserving the BSH site in Nauen, organising petitions and engaging in negotiations with company management. They have also sought support from regional politicians to prevent the plant's closure.

The council stands by the affected employees and calls for policy that takes responsibility for the people who have helped build the region. It has appealed to the Brandenburg state government to actively support the retention of the Nauen site. Furthermore, the council calls on BSH management, employee representatives, and IG Metall to seek viable alternatives that could secure the jobs.

The council has also asked for solidarity and support from other municipalities and the Havelland district. The plant's closure, due to waning demand, will have a significant impact on the local economy and community. The municipal council remains committed to finding a solution that preserves jobs and supports the affected employees.
