Scotland's Chief Entrepreneur Ana Stewart Outlines Three Key Priorities for Scaleups
Ana Stewart, Scotland's Chief Entrepreneur, has outlined three key priorities to support the country's most ambitious entrepreneurs. She shared these plans at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Conference in Glasgow. Stewart's approach has been welcomed by industry leaders, including Irene Graham, CEO of the ScaleUp Institute, and Sir Tom Hunter.
Stewart aims to provide tailored support for scaleups to access new talent, capital, and markets. She has already made progress this year, securing multi-year backing for Scottish EDGE and launching Dealroom Scotland. Her priorities include closer engagement with entrepreneurs and the private sector through Scotland's largest annual startup and entrepreneur survey. Stewart has been collaborating with entrepreneurs and the private sector since 2019, designing services based on their needs. She also plans to introduce consistent reporting to better measure the performance and impact of Scotland's entrepreneurial ecosystem. Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister, praised Scotland's progress in building one of Europe's fastest-growing entrepreneurial economies, highlighting the importance of supporting entrepreneurs from the spark of a new idea to rapid international growth.
Ana Stewart's priorities aim to strengthen Scotland's entrepreneurial ecosystem. By focusing on scaleups, engaging with entrepreneurs, and improving measurement, she seeks to drive economic growth. Industry leaders have welcomed her approach, expressing confidence in Scotland's entrepreneurial future.
