Second Resignation at State Court of Justice Following Informant Affair - Second Bremen constitutional judge resigns over police informant scandal

A second member of Bremen’s State Constitutional Court has resigned amid an undercover police informant scandal. Attorney Lea Voigt stepped down with immediate effect, following her colleague Anatol Anuschewski’s departure. Both had been appointed on the recommendation of the Left Party. Voigt’s resignation came in solidarity with Anuschewski, who faced public pressure over his alleged ties to the scandal. Though he dismissed the claims as speculation, he still left his honorary position. Voigt, who had served since 2023, argued that her court role clashed with her legal work.

Anuschewski was first appointed as an honorary judge in 2019, later becoming a deputy member. The controversy broke after regional news programme *buten un binnen* reported on the matter. The Bremen Citizens’ Assembly will now select Voigt’s replacement.

The resignations leave two vacancies on the State Constitutional Court. The Left Party’s nominees have both departed, and the Citizens’ Assembly must now appoint new members. The scandal’s impact on the court’s operations remains unclear.
