Seligenstadt’s heritage group wins Hesse’s top conservation award after 40 years
A local heritage group, the Livable Seligenstadt Old Town association, has been recognized for its long-standing efforts to protect Seligenstadt’s historic buildings. The group received the Hessian Heritage Conservation Prize 2024 at a ceremony in Wiesbaden on August 28. The award highlights nearly 40 years of volunteer work in the town known as Einhardstadt. Founded in 1986, the association has focused on preserving and maintaining the town’s historical architecture. Their dedication earned them the prize in the Volunteer Prize category, part of an annual award given by the state of Hesse. The honour comes with a certificate and €2,500 in prize money. The award confirms the association’s impact on Seligenstadt’s cultural landscape. With the prize money and local support, they can continue their preservation efforts, ensuring that the town’s historic buildings remain part of its identity for years to come.
