Senate Energy Committee Advances Bills Important to Wyoming

The U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee has moved forward with two key bills. One aims to limit foreign and AI influence over federal land decisions. The other modernises Wyoming’s education trust fund system.

The committee voted to advance the American Voices in Federal Lands Act, sponsored by Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis. This bill blocks foreign adversaries and artificial intelligence from shaping federal land management rules. Its goal is to ensure only American stakeholders have a say in these decisions.

At the same time, the committee backed the **Wyoming Education Trust Modernization Act**, also introduced by Lummis and Barrasso. This legislation updates the state’s education funding framework. A separate vote on this act is scheduled for January 14, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. in Cheyenne, where the Wyoming Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee will review it.

Both bills now progress to the next legislative stage. The American Voices in Federal Lands Act tightens control over land management input. Meanwhile, the education trust modernisation effort awaits its January vote in Wyoming’s state committee.
