Senate to Grill Nuclear Expert Douglas Weaver for Key Regulatory Role
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is set to question Douglas Weaver this week. He has been nominated to fill the final vacant seat on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The hearing will also cover another key appointment for the Tennessee Valley Authority board.
Weaver brings nearly 20 years of experience from his time at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. His career also includes roles at nuclear firms Holtec International and Westinghouse Electric. These positions have given him deep knowledge of the nuclear energy industry.
If confirmed, Weaver would complete the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s five-member panel. His experience in regulation and private industry will be central to the committee’s decision. The hearing will also address broader staffing needs at the Tennessee Valley Authority.
