Sergei Natarov denies all charges in final courtroom showdown
The criminal trial of Sergei Natarov has reached its final stage in Krasnoyarsk's Kirovsky District Court. After four years and three months in pretrial detention, the former State Duma deputy and current deputy chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Legislative Assembly delivered his closing statement this week. He firmly denied all charges and accused transport security officers of fabricating the case against him.
In his final address to the court, Natarov rejected every allegation made by the prosecution. He insisted he could not admit guilt for acts he had not committed. Instead, he claimed the entire criminal case was constructed by officials with ulterior motives.
Natarov also expressed confidence that the evidence presented by his defence would secure either an acquittal or force the case back to prosecutors. According to him, his legal team had already dismantled the prosecution's arguments during the trial. Closing arguments have now concluded, with defence attorney Alexander Khropot set to deliver his remarks next. As of March 2026, no further public details about the trial's proceedings or public reactions to its final phase have been released.
The court will now deliberate on the case after months of hearings. Natarov's defence maintains that the prosecution's case lacks credibility and relies on fabricated evidence. A verdict is expected in the coming weeks, though no official timeline has been confirmed.
