Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi Slams Taliban as 'Rabid Islamists'

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has spoken out against the Taliban, describing them as 'rabid Islamists' who deny rights to women and engage in terrorism. She found it ironic that the Indian government recognised the Taliban-led Afghanistan government as the 'Emirates of Afghanistan'.

Chaturvedi, who previously served as a member of the Indian National Congress, clarified her stance on the Taliban, stating that her views have not changed despite old tweets resurfacing. She criticised those defending the Taliban in these old tweets, expressing shock at people in India defending the 'Afghanistan Taliban', which she described as a 'shameful attempt to whitewash Islamic radicals'.

Chaturvedi stressed the need for India to maintain strategic engagement with 'Afghanistan' despite the Taliban's leadership. She also criticised the exclusion of women journalists from a press briefing due to Taliban beliefs.
