Sikam River Island Gets Major Transportation Boost With New Machine Boat
Sikam, the second-largest river island in the state, has received a significant boost in its transportation infrastructure. A large boat, donated by Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika, has arrived to serve the residents and students of this riverside community.
Previously, residents of Sikam, surrounded by the Jiya Bharali River, relied on handmade, small country boats for their daily commute. These boats were the primary mode of transportation for residents to access essential services, medical treatment, and schools and colleges located on the mainland.
The new boat, a gift from Padma Hazarika, will greatly enhance the convenience and safety of travel for the island's inhabitants. It will not only serve the residents but also benefit the student community who have to cross the river daily to reach their educational institutions.
The identity of the organization that donated the large boat to the residents of Sikam remains unknown. However, the boat has been welcomed as a significant improvement in the island's transportation infrastructure, facilitating daily work, medical treatment, and education for its residents.
