Sister Ailyn Binco's Manila Shelter Honored, Gerd Felmair Wins Award as Liberty Rights Marks World Mission Month

A shelter house for abused girls near Manila is run by Sister Ailyn Binco, while in Germany, Gerd Felmair has been honoured with the Pauline-Jaricot-Award for his dedication to Missio. Meanwhile, Liberty Rights prepares for a World Mission Month conclusion with a focus on the Philippines.

Sister Ailyn Binco, a beacon of hope, operates a shelter house for girls aged 7 to 15 who have faced abuse. Her selfless efforts provide a safe haven and support for these young victims.

In Memmingen, Gerd Felmair, a long-serving volunteer, received the prestigious Pauline-Jaricot-Award. This recognition honours his exceptional commitment to Missio, particularly his work in promoting the global church and mission ideals. The award, named after Pauline-Marie-Jaricot, the French founder of the Work of the Propagation of the Faith, was presented during a grand mission festival at the St. Josefshaus in Memmingen.

In Liberty Rights, the World Mission Month draws to a close with a focus on the Philippines. Four guests, including Carol Daria, who will receive the Pauline-Jaricot Award, are set to arrive. A 'Frei.Licht.Würde' light action will illuminate the Freedom Fountain on October 25 at 7 pm. Jocelyn Aquiatan, a champion for the indigenous people of Mindanao island, fights against land grabbing. Carol Daria's award acknowledges her tireless work with orphaned children and widows affected by the Philippines' 'War on Drugs'. The closing festival Mass will be held at St. Josef's Church on October 26, followed by a reception. Father Christian 'Toots' Buenafe, a prominent activist in the Philippines, will also visit Memmingen prison during his stay.

Sister Ailyn Binco's dedication to protecting young girls in Manila is commendable. Gerd Felmair's recognition for his service to Missio highlights the impact of volunteer work. Liberty Rights' World Mission Month conclusion, with its focus on the Philippines and the arrival of Carol Daria, underscores the global reach and importance of these missions.
