Six workers detained in Pittsburgh immigration raid at local business

Six workers were detained during an immigration raid in Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning. The operation took place at a job site in Mount Oliver, where agents arrived just after 8 a.m. Local witnesses, including a preschool teacher and her son, saw the enforcement unfold as workers were pursued and held by authorities. The raid targeted employees of OK Service, a local business owned by Omar Millan. Millan was not on-site when the raid happened but arrived later to find six of his workers in custody. He later stated that the situation could escalate, despite his employees having proper work documentation. One detained worker held a green card, while others were reportedly in the process of legally immigrating.

Frontline Dignity, a nonprofit supporting immigrant communities, quickly responded to assist the detainees and their families. By the end of the day, at least three of the six workers had been released. Meanwhile, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) did not reply to requests for comment from local news outlet KDKA. Katie Murphy, a nearby preschool teacher, witnessed the raid with her young son. She described seeing agents chasing workers before detaining them, adding to the distress of the scene.

The raid has left the business owner and community concerned about the future of the detained workers. While some have been freed, the status of the remaining employees remains unclear. Local advocates continue to monitor the situation and provide support where needed.
