SMEunited President Calls for Streamlined EU Regulations to Boost Growth
Petri Salminen, President of SMEunited, has called on policymakers to streamline regulations and ensure consistent rule implementation across EU states to foster small business growth and innovation. He also highlighted the widening skills gap and advocated for enhanced skills development and labour mobility within Europe.
Salminen's remarks came during the Tripartite Social Summit, where discussions focused on bolstering Europe to benefit both workers and small businesses. He stressed the need for modern working conditions that balance flexibility and fairness.
SMEunited, the organisation Salminen leads, launched the Think Small First Charter. This initiative aims to promote smart legislation that small businesses can easily implement. Salminen underscored the significant role small business employers play in creating economic prosperity, quality jobs, and social cohesion.
Notably, companies with fewer than 10 employees account for roughly 30% of employment, a figure similar to that of large businesses. This underscores the importance of small businesses in the European economy.
Petri Salminen's advocacy for small business-friendly policies and improved skills development reflects the crucial role these businesses play in Europe's economic landscape. With consistent rule implementation and better labour mobility, small businesses can continue to drive growth and innovation.
